Summer Works 2023

ICT would like to highlight some of the changes we will be working on over the summer and keep you informed on what to expect over the next few months. Please take a look at our list of upcoming activities below (more details will be coming soon).

Estates Power-Down 4th June

There will be a planned power shutdown to the North side of the Brayford campus on Sunday, 4 June. This is to facilitate essential 5 yearly HV maintenance. Estates are coordinating with ICT planned maintenance on this date to minimise service interruptions.

ICT Maintenance 17th-18th June

We will be carrying out some planned maintenance across all of our services on the weekend of 17-18 June. More information on this work will be provided soon.

Campus Printers Upgrade

As part of a new Managed Print Services contract, ICT and its new service provider will be replacing the Multifunctional Devices across the University over the summer for new, more efficient and cost-effective devices.  The main driving point behind this new contract is to ensure sustainability so that the print service supports the University in its Net Zero ambitions.

Telephone & Comms Replacement

With increased flexible work using Teams, the requirement for desk phones and extension numbers has changed significantly. When the current contract with our supplier comes to an end, we will be rationalising the telephone service, and making enhancements to the available facilities. For example, where your role requires a phone, you may have a softphone on your laptop (this will be a replacement for Jabber).

If you are working at the same location often, or sharing IT kit with others, you may have use of a normal desk phone handset. In addition, special circumstances such as emergency contact phones will be replaced like for like.

Your Head of School or Department Head will be working with ICT to confirm all requirements.

Teaching Space Updates

We will be continuing our rolling replacement of AV equipment in the David Chiddick Building, as well as providing equipment and implementing office concepts in Lawress Hall working spaces. In addition, we will be replacing PCs in the Alfred Tennyson Building and continuing to upgrade MacOS to Ventura across campus.
