What is automation?

Automation describes a wide range of technologies that reduce human intervention in processes. We see it in everyday life – robots in factories that package up biscuits or chatbots that help us with questions we may have when trying to pay bills online.

How Can I Ask For Help?

The team are compiling a Pipeline of processes that could be automated so that they can be prioritised and then developed when resources allow. If you know about any processes you think could benefit from being automated. Please complete this short form and we will contact you to discuss the options.

Once a process is accepted for automation there are three options we can use:

• Use the facilities within existing systems such as OneUni workflows.
• Help staff develop their own Power Automate flows to undertake tasks across Microsoft products. LinkedIn Training Course

What a Virtual Worker Will Do?

A Virtual Worker is a piece of software that will undertake a specific task, it will keep sensitive data secure, it will only make decisions on rules that we enforce. It provides consistent delivery of what it has been told to do – doing it right first time and every time and it will escalate where its knowledge or rules specify.

What a Virtual Worker Won’t Do

A Virtual Worker cannot think for itself and will not learn beyond what we tell it to do. It won’t ask for time off!

What Do I Have To Do?

If you know a process that may benefit from being automated, then let us know by completing the Candidate Process Form and we will come and speak to you about the options. If we go ahead, you need to commit to work with us. As the Subject Matter Experts of your processes, we need you to show us how they work. We ask you to demonstrate how you carry out the task and we record it to create a plan to go forward. You need to be available for us to contact for assistance in answering questions from the Assess phase through to Training staff in the use of the finished automation and be free to test the product, and support the implementation, deployment and monitoring of the final product.
