Digital Services are currently investigating issues with the start button being greyed out when trying to record in Panopto.
This is an issue affecting a number of institutions, and we are working with Panopto to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
We have successfully implemented a workaround by unlocking the input mic and camera settings on the Panopto app - please see below for relevant information.

We have successfully implemented a workaround by unlocking the input mic and camera settings on the Panopto app.
This change will be effective from 20/02/2025, enabling users to easily select the correct primary input source from the dropdown menu on the left-hand side of the app if not currently set.
We are actively collaborating with Panopto to achieve a permanent resolution to this issue.

In line with the University's policy of ensuring we are up to date with all the latest Microsoft Security practices, it will be necessary to perform some work on the servers over the period of approximately two weeks.
The work will be timed to ensure minimum inconvenience - with the aim of having all the servers available by 12:00 noon on the weekend and by 08:00 am on weekdays.

Digital Services would like to inform staff and students that Panopto will be undergoing some essential maintenance on Friday, 11 April, which will result in the service being temporarily unavailable.
This maintenance will take place from 22:00 on Friday 11 April 2025 and is scheduled to take 3 hours to complete.

During the times listed it will not be possible for staff and students to:
• Access and view any existing recordings.
• Create new recordings using Panopto.
• Submit a video assignment to Blackboard.
Therefore, please ensure that you plan accordingly around any deadlines.
